I've experimented on my own as well and came to the conclusion that the fogdome is pretty high for no big reason (fogdomeheight could easily be set to just 0 instead of 0,4). fogcolour150 180 150 also helps to give it a more natural feeling.
Perhaps it could be a nice map for Tesseract, got my blessings for it at least.

ya i had set it to 0.1, but then decided to change it to 0.4 or 0.5 i dont remember. And ya i think i turned it down lower then 150 180 150 .. i think 110 100 50 .. but ya anything is better than what it is now. Nice map out side the environment settings (lights,fog,etc)

That's definitely an improvement over the original screenshot, i'll take a look soon :P

na i think that error is related to something else .. niebs water fall (from bt_falls) is showing up all white, I was probably fucking around with shit and messed something up ;p

First you've got to have said textures and models. Then you have to make sure their paths are properly aligned. But first an foremost, you need to know if the map defines its textures from scratch or uses the default list. If it's the latter, then through many tears and lots of sweat. If it's the former, a few minutes should be enough.

idk what kind of problems you had (love to help if you would give more of a description), just coppied and paced the file like you would do with any other version. No problems. I always use tesseract, light calcling is a pain in the ass.

Calclighting isn't a pain in the ass actually as it just precalculates all lighting threads (and save them up in light-mapped textures). So a major performance strike occurs as only 1 man has to sit back and wait, instead of everyone. Despite that it's not that real time (and knows considerably more limits), which is probably why Eihrul started Tesseract.
The lighting model of Sauerbraten shouldn't be abandoned that easily. It's a very elegant and cheap way to render while not asking major hardware (while the lighting model of Tesseract does in comparasion).

Perhaps a lighting model which combines both lighting models would be a great asset (like only real-time rendering sunlight or spotlight entities for example).
I actually wonder why there has never been a vertex lighting model on Cube Engine (2)...

To get back to the map;

I'm totally agreeing with Doko and think you could better move the rocket base to the courtyard with the textureblended manhole in the centre. Probably the best position to place it is right next to the stairs out of sight of the rifle base (so spamming is avoided).
That new grenade base feels way too close to the rifle base. I would say, delete it.
The old grenade base could better be putted towards the cave as you can spam grenades right into the base which spawns bullets. Another option is to position the bullet base more towards the base which spawns shells (so nearly at the end of the stairs right next to the rock which forms a chicane)and put that base 1 room further.
Why those bases in open ground (nearly) always have to be riflerounds? It makes it way harder to position the other bases as you always have to keep in mind if you're not in range with that rifle base. Rather make players use their ammunition on a position which an opponent base appears. This creates a way better flow in the game as the occupation of the bases get more rotated.

So actually, switch the rifle base with the base of the grenades or shells. People won't stick there forever that way.

@light calcing
light calcling is great if you dont mind using disk space to replace the memory and gpu processing time to render the lighting. Though saying the the currenc light maps are "very elegant" is quite stupid. Most light maps (source engine for example) do a lot more calculations than just pure lighting and shadows, it takes in account for emiters (light particles) which bounce off of walls creation indirect lighting. It also accounts for color bleeding (the reflection of a texture onto near by objects).

So light maps are great, if you have a slow computer, or have no gpu. But real-time lighting is not all that expensive and the gpu takes care of most of the processing. So most computers can run it rather easily.

But im still waiting for some one to do light triggers (ie light switches, siren lights, etc)

Tesseract's real-time lighting is pretty taxing.

I can testify to this; Tesseract pretty much halves my FPS compared to sauerbraten. Thankfully, it's still over 60.

compared to sauer and its 10+ year old technology ... compared to any modern engine ... not at all... i can run it on my mactop (its too years old with the first mobile gfx card nividia put out).. so if your computer was made in the last few years u can run it fine :)

If you really want a discussion about Tesseract versus Sauerbraten, just start a discussion topic or redeem one from the grave if it already has been discussed.

I have finished converting the map for Tesseract and I am ready to upload it but I have to include a lot of textures and models from Sauer as well, is that OK license-wise?

Only if the license permits so of course.
If you use just 1 texture of a certain set (or worse, the license won't let you), just use another texture if you want it into Tesseract so badly.
For example, the ik_floor_met1f texture of ikbase has no license other than here, but that license is really restricted and aged (certainly not anything near CC0, rather something like BY-NC-ND). So I would advice you to take a texture which is inside the aftas, lunaran, mitaman or gor folder. The very same counts for the 032-15a texture of techsoc you've used.
Apparently you've used some scrolling WT_GK_001_cc texture on the map (twice at least), but couldn't locate it (yet I did found some lost blue particles at the other side of the rock next to the base which bullets spawn on and your hidden room). Perhaps they could be called out of function as well?

P.S.
I'm still not font of the snow particles on the bases. They are pretty annoying if you ask me (what are they doing there anyway?).

I like those particles, I'm gonna keep them ;) Anyway I won't publish the Tesseract version because I'm too lazy to deal with the licence stuff and I've found an older version of Tesseract which still supports sauer maps.

Old version as in git version. That is outdated and abandoned, and any maps you port there will still be incompatible with tesseract. If you want them to work properly, simply resave the map using the latest sauer SVN. Then it will be fine.

Good idea about the Birchood Lookout. I'd also move the rock wall a bit more towards the little watchtower to provide more cover and I'd make a tunnel (cave or dungeon-like) from the yellowshield cave or from the waterfall with jumppad to provide alternative access route. What do you think about that?

mmh. provide more cover to the birchood lookout by moving it at water level [so lower] and build a little piece of broken wall wich comes out from the rocks and points to the Angels, so that the birchood is a little more covered, then add your cave form that wall to the yellow armor or, better, point it up to the waterfall level, so that again you have more up and down. but for your map's own standards that cave will be too straight and long.. dunno how much it would help the gameplay.
