I think it would be a good idea if we had a drawing section.
Most maps begin in the head of the creator then goes straight to edit mode. I think map creation could be greatly improved if before editing, we started drawing and posting sketches before editing. :)
Sketches made by software or scanned. So people could comment or draw something to suggest an idea to make someone else map better.
I know you could do that with "new content" but to motivate drawing, a section would essential. That would be so cool.

Would you like that too?

I like this idea, it would be good for sharing and refining ideas before wasting time on something that people may not like.

i basically never draw pictures.. except ive got a great idea all of a sudden and want to write it down, but basically i develop all my maps out of mind

Drawing never helped me with sauerbraten. The cubes are too constraning: I have never achieved something that looks like a drawing. Drawing is OK for other engine, other editor, but the freedom you got with pen and paper dont get in well with sauerbraten.

I understand but the drawings I was thinking were not complex ones. Only simple, even cartoon drawings of the layout of the map. Very basic drawing. Of course if someone wanted to do something very good it was their choice.

Think of any official map, if you do simple lines you could produce a drawing of their layout. Like here is the base, here is a river, there is the other base. It is much easier to make a new drawing than making a new map. :P

Lets say I need an idea for a bridge, someone could draw that in 1 minute. Easy.

Personally I find that pen and paper is actually insufficient for drawing - I can 'see' the proper angles and shapes in my head, but it always comes out wrong on paper. But then, I'm talking about cylinders and rectangles. I can probably do this for other stuff.

Good idea. I'm not sure why people are taking the idea down since this isn't mandatory, but anyways lol.

i personally make low-poly templates.. or when i have some thoughts about structures and spots.. like photos in my mind.. i work them out in sauer and then i try to embed them in my map ;)
my maps start either with a template and a theme in mind, or it starts with an obsolete object, eg in tempest i started with the jumppads in the middle ;)

I am taking an engeneering class in school. This means that i've been laerning how to sketch and whatnot, using measurments in Inventor (much like blender) to make parts and models. I've always thought about doing perspective views of my ideas. Glad somone finally mentioned this, great idea!

Sometimes i have hope about it!

Should be fantastic if Quadropolis could have a section (maybe in the forum) for sketch. So we can talk about a map prior to start it.
Themes, textures, layout, what resource and were, how to do, or better do, I think a lot can be discuss about a map prior to start the engine.
