I've added more cover along the corridors & staircases, & have improved the clipping.

Oh come on, you got the layout right on this one, which was to number one thing criticized about your other maps. I was really harsh because I really like Gothic architecture, and the themeing here is worse than the renaissance. (I have some strong opinions on some certain architectural periods, bottom line is if it had been a different theme I might have not been so harsh.

Actually, that's a good parallel for the map. The geometry itself isn't necessarily terrible, but the theme is wrong. Most of the towers look like they came from Island or nmp8 but the textures are drab, serious medieval-style stone.

I think we expected a better map thematically though since your last couple were pretty good.

That's a bit rude. Not even Suicizer would say something like that.

These comments are the reason some really nice maps are stored away in peoples folders and forgotten about. They don't want to read this stuff.

Pyccna is contributing what he can to quad, and I haven't seen a map from you for a while, Mmeaninglez. Why would you discourage someone like that.

The less hurtful statement would be 'The architecture isn't very convincing, try doing x, also x too. If not, then x.'

Don't give up Pyccna, and don't take reviews too seriously. Remember you're not making the map to impress every living soul on this wretched site, one would wish to do that. Have fun with it, make it so you like it, and be proud to present it.

Oh man, I should not review maps while I'm angry at other stuff. There's a lot of stuff I could have said differently yesterday about this map. What I'm really kicking myself for is using the word "gothic". Pyccna never used the word, I just pulled it out and started shouting down how it wasn't gothic.
(sigh)

[As to me not posting anything recently, I've been busy. It took me a month to do 3 hours of changes to HyPass, to give some perspective on that.]

Well you certainly have the right attitude, you just lack a certain logic in layout and theming. But don't be afraid to map (and publish them) because of bad critique! Eventually, it's all meant to help, not to break you. The skills which you still lack just need some time to develop. They aren't as simple as pushing or pulling cubes. Everyone started on a similar base; not knowing anything about how to make a map flow, let lighting pop up certain details while the rest is sightable as well, let textures fit the geometry but the atmosphere also etc. You'll get there.
