Detailed description

Well, here goes.

Fanatic made most of this amazing map and left it abandoned with an "other license" on Quadropolis. today, Fanatic is nowhere to be found. I tried contacting him, but without success. So about a year ago, just as a project for myself, I decided to finish it.

I added more pathways connecting the two bases, added items and waypoints, enlarged the hallways, added some crates for cover, drained most of the pool,and added access to the surface. The finished product is a deathmatch/CTF map that's tight and close-quarters, but with tons of different paths and copious amounts of cover. (I find it works better as a Team Death Match map, though)

Anyway, I was keeping this map to myself for a year in fear of the deadly Ambiguous Licencing Ninja Squad, but now I think the community should have a chance to see it, partly because I haven't contributed much to Sauer since Rivals.

Please don't hate me.

When posting someone else's work, be sure to add a link to it's original content.

Telling what you exactly did on the map should be a must in such cases.

it says this map is also for RE, is there a different download for that or does the .ogz just need to be changed to .mpz?

Add this to your autoexec.cfg in redeclipse:
octadir "/home/user/bin/sauerbraten/"

Where octadir is the path that sauerbraten is installed to.

Then you should see "show sauer maps" on the vote/mode menu, if you tick it you can play all the maps from sauer. You'll need to do that otherwise you will get texture errors (RE has different textures) the octadir setting lets you use them in redeclipse. Then, obviously place the .ogz map in packages/base/ of your sauer folder and it should show up.

Remove the rain particles :P Or at least tweak them so they don't go through the ceilig.

I thought that just worked for any Sauerbraten map, it can load a map, but will place random weapons, whereas the RE version has changes specific to RE. But I'll try it.

Alright, I'll be short with this one.

Editing: Awesome. I like the theme, and the atmosphere is pretty nice as well. The concept of the map altogether is nice as it is.

Lighting: Still awesome. It fits.

Flow: Nope.avi. Incredibly close quarters, and all but like 1 or 2 of the hallways are too low to jump in. That hallway that leads outside from the cargo room is a no-no. It is incredibly too low and there are little wall things sticking down to make it even lower. I can see why this was a Cube ONE map. I don't think this has any hope for the new version, because people are getting pickier on how "flow-y" they want the maps to be. Cube 1 maps are dead, I think the only Cube 1 map I've ever liked playing was oddworld... if that even was Cube 1...

Misc: Still, it's pretty nice.

Overall: I understand that this was a finish project of Fanatics, though considering how close it is I don't think we would be playing it any time soon... Then again, I may be wrong :)

I'll give you a 6/10 for effort and great editing. Not a full 10 because of the flow.
