Installing mods

I am not at all new to Sauerbraten, I have been using it for about 2 years. However while I can edit maps and add "/newents" and whatnot, I am stuck with a few problems
#1 INSTALLING MODS
HOW DO I DO THIS?!?!?!?! (I downloaded the popular hellpig2 mod, and it works just fine) but as for hudguns, when I replace the original guns with a new modded one, in gameplay a yellow version of the normal guns appear on everyone else, and I just see empty hands in front of me. Please tell me how to correctly install mods.

When you do damage to some one (e.g., one pistol round to a hellpig) a little '25' will float up, or whatever number it is. I understand what it is, but is there any way to turn them off?
I would be incredibly ecstatic if anyone could help me with either of these problems. Thank you

hudgun mods always are considerably harder to install than most others. usually there are incompatibilities, and without you specifying which one you're trying to use, it will be hard to find help.

as for the second question.. nope, not yet. but it might be a good idea for the upcoming release.

I am trying to download the classic hudguns i think? On my desktop the folder is called SHudguns. the chainsaw is a fist ETC, all the guns are changed, also I am on a Mac OS X, so is there any way to make these work?

There should be a directory which contains all stuff of Sauerbraten (like textures, models, maps, skyboxes, etc). Put the folder which contains all the old hudguns inside the models directory (should be Sauerbraten/packages/models).
After that, put in your autoexec (or in the console line ingame) hudgundir name_of_folder

To use the console you literally just add a "/" to the beginning of your chat input:

/hudgunsdir "folder name"

The folder name would be the name of the folder inside packages/models/ which contains your custom hudguns, by default hudgunsdir (when empty) it is set to packages/models/hudguns/.

If you put your custom hudgun models into packages/models/myhudguns, to load them up, you would type:

/hudgunsdir myhudguns

Actually....I have one more question....The HUDGUNS work, but when I see other people their guns are all yellow and weird.....how do I make their guns appear?

Check out the vwep folder in the models directory.

I won't tell it this time as you know what to do. Just think logical and think back what you did with those hudguns. Good Luck...
