Anyone have any idea how to go about setting up a skybox in Photoshop so all the edges meet correctly and the resulting skybox looks correct?
why would you if penguins spend so much work to tell people "terragen" is an option to make skyboxes?
because some people want photoshop to do everything, when dealing with images.
Theso you could try Terragen 2, it puts out some NICE stuff.
Well, Photoshop is a lot more flexible than Terragen. I don't want to make terrain, I want to make space scenes. I'm wondering how I could get planets, stars, nebula, etc. to line up in skybox form.
well, the trick for space stuff, is if you got black, you need to have it on the seams of the images. even a 1 pixel difference or weirdness will show up on your skybox. dont put celestial objects on your seams. i've done things with terragen 2 for space. check it out.
the best way is to use images from the real world or a 3d scene from scratch in gimp. you can make some really cool things in tera, but gimp is better in some aspects. try this tutorial. http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Blender_3D:_Noob_to_Pro/Build_a_skybox
Make a net, then paint, filter, etc. until you have what you want, and then move/rotate all the pieces around to ensure there aren't any seams.
You could also generate a skybox in (e.g.) Terragen then use Photoshop on those images.
