ok as a critic i will narrow the above list down (and add some of my own :)

-a maya Temple located in the jungle //i did this once :)
-à pc from the inner side //good idea
-à school // to much detail dont do this it will be hell
-à graveyard with ghosts which are Flying around (mapmodels?) // use clouds to have them circle, like a atmospheric look rather then a realistic looking
-à historic Chinese themeb // good ideal but to expand, my be a chines market place :0
-à funpark (with à rollercoaster :) //sound like to much detail, but if done right it would be good (make it haunted :)
-London with the Big ben // maybe inside the big ben, with all the gears, but if they dont move (which they wont) it would look bad.

now to add
inside a volcano (this is one of my noobish fantastics)
a place in the mountains, like palace shrine or other thing (like mummy 3 ).
inside a library (keep in mind you would have to make the aisle wider then they are).
prison (classic)
a giant wood fort like a playground looking one or like a 1700's frontier's land (america; Daniel Boon)
a warehouse (like hallo 2 map)

if your a bit smart, you keep those themes for your own, so your 1 of the first who makes such themed maps ;).

if your going for a ship... lego models work well as starting points :)

and that glass does not curve (ship in a bottle).

watch out on a digestive track map, make sure not to make it too linear

not a real serious idea, just stuff off the top of my head.

I tried to make an Ant-Farm CTF once, but it was WAY too linear, there was no realistic way to create cover either. I couldn't fathom any way to make a realistic lighting situation work for the tunnels.

I keep going back to it and adding a little bit at a time, but I still do not have any ideas for the lighting.

thats why you should use a mapmodel of a bottle to succeed that :P.

I didn't think that you could walk inside of a mapmodel even with passthrough. Am I wrong about this? (I'm not a mapper at ALL)

changing the 3rd arg of mapmodels somehow makes it possible for you to move through them. so as long as the ship is finished, you could add the clip and then surround the ship with the huge bottle mapmodel. this would work like a charm :)

Or use a skybox.

skyboxes are for outlining areas, if the boarder of the map is the bottle then you would have troble making it look realistic :)

but what you could do is use a mmodel of a bottle and use the arg3, then you skymap (with skytexture 0) and make an outline of the mapmodel bottle to clip it so that no one could fall off the map. this would solve all problems and allow the map not work like a charm :)

im thinking ppl are miss understanding:

what he suggested was that we should us a skybox to create the effect that the map is in a bottle, but rather what i was saying was that if you use a mapmodel with the arg3 set this would solve the realism problem (which of course was stated), and then to stop ppl from running through the glass, you should use skymap texture (with the function skytexture 0 ), this would clip the edge of the bottle (this was not stated) :)

I see your point, but there is no reason to regurgitate what someone else has said. What you should have done was reference Razgriz (instead of copy and paste) and then include the skytexture 0 idea. It really isn't very hard: you get to type less, be less of an asshole, and not get caught copy and pasting.
