Detailed description

I decided to release it now, and i would appreciate feedback from you. Especially about things like ammo-placements, bases, the zip-archive (naming convention and possible problems with unpacking)

I experimented with the skylight, skybox and fog wich should give nice cold feeling. I also made some new textures based on ones i downloaded from various sources like http://www.cgtextures.com/

Thanks for looking and have fun.

Edit: Took care of the config-file, changed uppercase/lowercase and the slashes, please provide feedback :).

Edit-2: Uploaded a new version, indeed one of the snow-textures had a white line running across it, that should be fixed now. I did something about the bases (there are now six of them). Please feedback, i will be out of the country for the next two weeks (leaving at Christmas day), i won't be able to do anything about Frostbyte while i am away, that's because of a crappy laptop.

Yes, you've really not packaged the ZIP quite right;
you used "packages/Base" in your folder-structure - which should be all lowercase.
Also you've included a "blikejebier" subdir-structure ... which is empty ;-)
Then your base/frostbyte.cfg doesn't travel well - fix the uppercase [Bb]likje[bB]ier occurences;
finally fix the backslashes "\" to forward slashes "/" ... I think that's about all but double-check yourself ;)

Okay - on to the map - I can't really say a lot about it w/o actually playing it a couple of times.
I like the map's layout, a classic arena style;
item placement seems abundant but very well distributed too, so should keep players well stocked ;)

In Soviet Russia map frags you!

After fixing the typos in the cfg I have to say thats one cold map! Very good capture of the coldness. Very good detail on the geometry. I also like the fact that the quad is equally accessible from anywhere in the map.

Definitely one of my favorite maps in terms of how it looks. Those custom textures look great and that website you listed is going to be veeery useful. Gameplay is probably good but i really have to play it to find out. As MeatROme said, there are allot of weapons but they are very evenly placed throughout the map so that shouldn't be a problem. It kinda reminds me of curvedm =)

However, it isn't really my kind of map. I'm more of a small, 1 on 1 type of guy but im sure many people will love it. Keep up the good work ;)

Great map ! Love the way you used the textures. Looks very consistant, makes it even feel like a map from a commercial title, imo. If i was one of the devs, i'd include it in the next release, that's for sure.

Oh, one thing i've recognized: The bases seems to float above the ground, maybe you fix that later ? ;)

I really like this map. I love the lights in the buildings, they are looking really good.

The rooms on the upper floor are to low for jumping.

But i give you 5/5

Looks nice. :) My only complaint is that the layout is a bit generic.

Hmm, I rather liked the way the fog and sky blended together... Gave a nice effect.
Nice skybox, though.

Oh, and BlikjeBier, you can use spaces in your mapmsg by enclosing it in quotation marks, i.e. /mapmsg "Frostbyte by Blikje Bier".

BTW: /loadsky skyboxes/overcast 1.5 works even better, the skybox will rotate if you add that number behind it :)

Eihrul just told me that he would include your map if you managed to fix the seams of your textures. When you take a look at the snow texture for example, you can see thin white lines as transitions.

If you do so, please also try to fix these bases and spread them a little more between the floors (atm, they are still floating above the ground, and all bases are on the same floor).

Just wanted to inform you about that ;)

Looks at the date of the posting and is puzzeled. Its in the current release of Sauerbraten, if you have that then you have Frostbyte as well. No need anymore for a seperate download.
