Detailed description

"The Odyssey" is a large SP map (about 800 monsters, about an hour of gameplay) with a variety of areas to explore and kill in. The map also includes some new textures and triggered Fanatic music.

Just unzip into the CUBE folder and start it with "sp mpsp5".

Gameplay hints: I suggest that when you teleport into a new area gather up supplies and save before moving on. Also, don't just blindly run into an area without checking out your surroundings, you will trigger more than you can handle if your not careful!

This is by far one of the most beautiful and enjoyable (and biggest) Singleplayer maps that have ever been made for Cube.
As usual Mitaman supplies us with nice moody design, cleverly placed monsters,traps and items, making this one a must play for everyone.
Scripted changes of the tracks in fanatic´s soundtrack create a great change of atmosphere as you fight your way through the diffrent areas.

You've been posting so much here and providing good reviews MakkE - I've just given you moderator access. It's still a little rough around the edges - haven't hammered out the moderator system completely yet.

Read over the moderator guidelines. Unfortunately, right now the system was designed with more moderators in mind, so I think for most moderator actions to have an effect, you need a second person to apply the same moderation you did. Can't remember how it was set up. Either way, there you are.

Hi. I don't know if it's just me being clueless, or if there is actually a problem, but I'm having trouble with this level. I go through a few hundred monsters, teleport a few times, and then eventually I get teleported back to the starting point. Then I'm stuck. I don't seem to be able to get any more doors to open, although I have gone everywhere I can find. If I go into edit mode I can see other areas of the map that I haven't visited, but I can't find any way of getting the doors to those places open.

Any ideas? I'm using the latest version of cube - 2005_08_29.

hello mnw21cam!

There are no problems with the map, it's been played by many others. If you go into edit mode when playing the map, the triggers reset and break the gameplay.

After you teleport back to the begining, just go straight until you reach the spinning carrot behind the bars. Make a right, that large door on your right should be open.

I think my problem is a bug in cube. After I teleport back to the beginning, that door to the right is not open. Typing "trigger 34" into the console opens the door (as well as releasing those hordes closer to the beginning), and gameplay is fine from then on. However, right at the end of the level, when I get teleported to the spinning carrot with the bars gone, I notice that the same door is closed again. Typing "trigger 34" opens it again.

I did not enter edit mode at all. The only thing I can think of is that I did quicksave and restore a few times.

Cool level though.

That hudgun is from DCP's website (check readmes in models folder in cube / sauer). The machine gun in Sauer is also his. He has many nice mapmodels, skyboxes, and some textures for download at his site (that did not make it into Cube Sauer).

No, the site has been offline for quite some time and I'm not aware of (nor did my searches turn up) any mirrors of any of his files. Sorry .. maybe you can find some way to contact him though .. I think maybe I found him on "stayfriends", but can't be certain it really is him .. site needs registration for full profile view, maybe there you can then contact him ... worth a try I'd say - HTH

Hey, glad you like it. I'm working on a SP map for Sauer right now. Same type of gameplay, lots of areas to fight / explore.

BTW, all my SP maps are included in the last release of CUBE, just look for maps that are mpspxxx, (plug plug)
