Detailed description

It took a while to make this map but i have finally finished and release to you all, Orgosville!

Story:
The game takes place in a small monster village called orgosville. An orgo agent has broken in to check suspicious activicty inside the town. Suddenly the orgo agents identity was revealed and the whole town raised and alarm. The orgo agent must escape the town before they catch him.

Details: The map uses a high variety of mapmodels and interesting textures. My stupid slow computer ran it around 6 fps. I suggest you all use a fast computer for this level. I am open to suggestions on how to improve the map. Please give a very good rating for I put alot of effort into this. The town has lots of good places, eg. The libary, Butchers and grainary but I forgot the pub. Lol, hope thats ok with u all! have fun!

Well i used to think that maps like this were very low on detail and had terrible gameplay. And to think that so much detail was put into a village, one that you had to use stealth or stupidity but each decision, dramactically effects your situation. Very hard to escape and based like Orgo Waystation. And lastly to think that you could go absolutly anywhere and that i think this could be the best map ever!
10/10!

This map is amazing! How long did it take you to make it? It has so many places to go and do. My favorite part of it was the roofs because u could snipe all those unsuspecting orgos, lol. The only thing i didnt like was that some of the houses roofs, where they curved you could fall through when there were no gaps(?). But that was just a minor setback, because apart from that this map rules!

this is a very good map! and cube master was right it is the best SP map yet. it has so much detail into it and i had so much fun playing it, this must of had taken quite a bit of time. so good map cube master looking forward for more great maps from you!!!

This is the kind of Sp map that we all need. rarely are there more detailed and difficlt maps, especially not ones where the player has total control over where he or she wants to go. It just adds a new prospect to the world of Sauerbraten.
5/5 or 10/10 or 100/100 cos its that good!

This map is incredable! (if only there was a multiplayer version...)
And to think its the best map on this site! If only more of these maps were published then Sauerbraten would become reconized worldwide!
Its really good to make a map thats like an rpg but actually a SP. It has so many ways to get through the town and i had a blast playing through all this. Although the rooves as Sniper1 said, do for some reason cause you to drop through and theres no, noclip there.
But seriously if multiplayer maps were like this...

Sorry bout that roof error, Actually "noclip" was not used in the map. I found that the roof errors came when i sloped the roofs on those angles. It was really odd but easy enough to avoid. Thanks all for the ratings and comments! I would be happy to release a multiplayer version of the map but I would need to know what you will want it to be like. Would u like it to be the same as the sp map but without the monsters and doors?

A multiplayer on this scale level, would undoubtably be very slow. My system ran at 10 fps normally but in built up areas only at 6! It needs to be smaller if it becomes multiplayer and the mapmodels in places like the grainery caused gritty framerates. But it has the looks and it would be a very large and excellent multiplayer

Multiplayer gameplay works just fine on superscalar maps if they're capture-maps. I've found that's the nice part about Capture - it lets Sauer work in superscale.

When I read the description, I already knew this couldn´t be a good map.

See, yes it´s big, and yes it has plenty of places to go to.
But that´s about it.

Architecture is blocky for the most part, texturing is rather random, you are using some plain colourmaps from the bumpmapped textures (looks bland).

With only 11k of wtr, you manage to bring down the performance by just putting in all the mapmodels you could find, at ridiculous amounts.
Don´t complain the map ran bad on your machine, do a /clearents mapmodel and you will see why.

Just making some square room and then stuffing models in isn´t gonna make the room any better.

Sorry I would have given you a better rating, but since you already rated yourself with that humble map-description, you probably don´t need another 5...
Your "great detail and gameplay" boils down to "lots of monters in lots of places with lots of mapmodels".. Not exactly what I´d "the best sp map yet" - the bar is significantly higher (have a look at "An Army Of One"...)

Well, The map was mostly built for the fun of playing it. It wasn't desinged to have great architecture. The mapmodels were choosen carefully to set the atmosphere in the map. Yes there were alot of them and it maybe made the map go slow but it still added the detail and thats what some people are looking for.
I made this map to add a new element to the SP gameplay. This is a map that allows the player to have control over where he or she wants to go. Thats maybe what scored all the 5 stars. I doubt it was the "humble" map description. Also I was not complaining about how slow it was on my computer. Infact I was letting people know that it ran slow so that they could use a faster computer or be prepared.
The textures were not bland, infact they were good and added to the detail of the map as well. You could of said I had to change some textures and mention the ones you want changed if you didn't like them. Take the grass for example. It was a new type of grass that has not been used before. (not that I know of)
Yes the map was quite blocky and square based but maybe some people just ignore that and look at it for the gameplay. I did and if I could I would rate it 5 stars. This map gives players the choice to move about freely. An Army Of One did not allow this. You had to move down continuous halls and corridors. Yes it had new textures and mapmodels but look at it. Its a map pack with new things for sauer. Look at my map... Its just showing a small village themed map with great gameplay. Yes, the score has been set higher, An Army Of One has been the "best" map released. My map is simple and straight forward. It has a new gameplay element and lots of other people must of not looked at it for the detail but instead for the gameplay. I didn't find the map blocky at all. I found that it added to the stradegy in the map.
If you are looking for a map with detail and great gameplay play this map. It is pretty good, dont just look at the bad side of things. Try to state the good things as well. I think you should actually tell me pacificly the things and places that must be change if u want them but so far a wide majority of players have loved this map.
Lol, I would take all the 5 stars I could get thankyou...

Hear hear. The arcitecture may not have been showing of the greatest aspects of the cube engine but the game itself was fun. And that in itself is what maps should be like, isnt it? I gave it a five because the atomsphere and stratagy required to complete this level made very different from the old, copy and paste manovere of continuous corridors. Being able to consistently explore your surroundings on an extremely large scale makes a level far more enjoyable than just following a specifically pointed out path.

This map was really... really... fun. Seriously, cubemaster, make more. Please. this is probably the best SP map i've played (though to be fair, I haven't been able to get army of one to work. keeps crashing). Five stars, btw...

Its only one, but still i am missing "acieeed/snow.jpg".

And furthermore, Sauerbraten can do so much more than this, creating a blocky map and plastering it with all mapmodels you could find is not my idea of "The best map ever".

Also if a map is built for gameplay and not for eye candy rate it on its fun factor!

STILL enjoying this map.

As an SP-only player I run out of maps to play.... always looking forward to good new maps but they just don't come often enough. So I have to turn to older maps to get my fix... There are just so many ways to play this one (all of them hard!). I also think it is one of the toughest maps to get through.

Just in case you somehow decide to update this old map:
The lines 44 and 128 in orgosville.cfg have no effect because they are missing a "texture" command.
Also the "mode -2" in the file is not needed.
With /mapmsg it's possible to set a title which is displayed after loading.

And I'm missing the file packages/acieeed/snow.jpg too. :P
