I believe this is because there's no way implemented into standard Sauerbraten to distribute new maps without changing anything else. Easy inclusion of new maps would mean more mappers would mean always fresh game experience would mean more players would mean more mappers would mean more nice people on quadropolis would mean more maps would mean more players would mean more development would mean more players... you get where this is going.

a server mod wich can set up a map rotation from the same platform and get those maps form the platform and give those maps to the players if they still don't have them, simply on map change. Imagine you're done with that game on hallo and suddenly "downloading "awesome map 1" [2.45 mb] - [stop and quit]" -> "installing "awesome map 1" [packages/base/...]" -> the rest of usual loading loading.

Hell no; even more failing maps to avoid.

What already would help if clients no longer refused n_sendmap messages outside of coop edit. The sendmap command of clients still could be blocked, though (either serverside, clientside or both).
That way server mods easily could implement such systems on their own if they wanted to.

Such option is actually not allowed on the official masterserver of Sauerbraten as stated by eihrul on the official forums of Sauerbraten.
Why not? Because it would allow to play modified versions of included maps which means the gameplay has been changed ("gameplay should stay unmodified while hosting a server"). Not even spoken about license conflicts which are being provoked.
So don't just provide such information that easy away as it causes trouble with the original situation.

Gameplay gets "modified" in so many ways anyways, so it wouldn't make that much of a difference IMO. I won't discuss about that further now, though (and I guess you agree), since it would lead to nothing anyways.

Enough of the "pros" ain't better. They do not even try to differentiate between fucking noobs as you described them and good old newbies. Also, the way the comment on others is not the best either.

For me, I support that these noobs find together and make clans, because a) this is maybe the only solution if nobody is open enough to teach them editing and b) in a group, they can learn from each other and get better themselfs.

If they wish to maintain goodwill and paying customers, it should be the game company's responsibility.

Hah, texreduce 12 is still innocent. Some people completely overwrite the majority of textures and mapmodels, so that they play in empty, grey worlds, the only colored spots coming from "interesting" stuff like neon-textured flags and enemies.

When that still isn't enough, they get "cool supports for the real pros", like that SauerZ thing or whatever it is called, to prevent accidental teamkills n shit and do thousand other things, which are all strangely enough not hacks.
When you ask them why it isn't hacking, the default answer is: "bcuz u a fuckin n00b" disconnecting (kicked/banned)

There's generally a lot of double-standards in this game. When a new player says that he tinkers with the source, he automatically is a fucking cheater ass dick which instantly needs to be range-banned over X.*.*.*. No further requests, it is just CLEAR that he can't be anything else.
Does an "old" player openly admit that he is hacking like crazy because it entertains him, everyone finds excuses for it. "Nah, he is just kidding, he does not mean it like that, he just tries stuff to find out how to make the game better" Suuuuuuure...

And how about master functions? Nobody finds it worth to explain anyone anything. Don't say "there's the docs!". When you download a free game somewhere, do you seriously wanna tell me that YOU sit down and click through pages and pages of readmes? Very entertaining.
You also give them the power to throw out people at will (i.e. that wonderful kick button) including a tempban, but no way to undo it again. Why does it tempban anyways? Many other games clearly differentiate between a kick, which simply disconnects you and serves more as a symbolic slap in the face, and a ban, which actually does not let you back in. Then rename the button to "tempban" or something.
And why is there no clearbans button? The function is simple enough and really damn useful and important for masters and admins. Why don't you implement quickly?

It's still a remarkable performance that a 'toxic' community lasts for nearly 9 years. Another remarkable performance is the mods inspired and build upon Cube Engine 2.

half of the map in the release needs to be removed due to the noobness feel they give, both for their no-fun gameplay and their no-cool look. And I'm not talking about the very classic old pack.
