that's a very different point. It's a taxonomy issue, aka categorizing nodes. You make a node and mark it as RE or Sauer or Tess, then by just clicking on the category link you get the archive of all nodes marked with the same category. It's a default feature in many CMSs, even in this very old and sometimes crappy one.
Go to a node and click it. it doesn't bite :D

isn't too redundant then? The site isn't meant to be browsed like that.. I mean: you come and see what's new. if you need to search for something you go to the custom google search.. if you really want to have an archive of one kind of content then you click on the category.. it's not something that everyone need or wish I think..

Maybe just have a search filter so you can choose which Cube game/mod content to display on your search? Or perhaps just have a tab to with a list of the newest/most popular Cube game/mods and then link a corresponding content list from those? Or maybe just a game/mod filter to display/sort content for only one (or a few) Cube branch(es) (i.e Revelade Reolution, Tesseract, Red Eclipse, etc.)?
I personally support this idea.

The matter here is how the site works: the layout here provides you some sticky [starred] content on homepage while there isn't a "freshness" [blog-style] page. On such a page you could have all the filters you want, and, looking directly at posts, you have direct links to the taxonomies too.
At the current state of things the addition of the games page is quite the most elegant way to have it done, even if it requires you 2 clicks and one pageload.

Technically the custom google search sucks because it doesn't work. I'm not sure if the kind of search the site is using isn't a variant that has gone extinct within google itself. It would be great if it were updated, because only IE displays results for me, the other browsers are stuck on LOADING

it works perfectly to me, i'm on firefox.. anyway it's sounds strange that such a thing gives browser-side issues..

Administer > menus > primary links > add menu item.
It's not that hard. I even cleaned it up some while ago (certain menu items stood double if not triple in the menu settings).

P.S. That bar isn't like a block (too bad it isn't), so I guess kz1 hacked around the block-settings. This means you can't turn it off or on, neither change it's place. The very same for the private messaging item.

The search tools work perfect for me; I'm not seeing where you complaign about.

Made something like that in the primary links block. Still needs to be a little more fancy (icons, descriptions, etc). Have fun with it.

P.S.
It's very nice, such games-link. But there are soo many nodes with a messed up tagging (stating they are compatible with Cube Engine while they are clearly not). Some people are tagging their content brainlessly. I think some gui is required here.
I already cleaned up several nodes which used to wear the Cube category tag, while they aren't compatible with it at all. Perhap some other admins could help to clean up the others also. Remember, it's the tags are meant to show off which game the node is compatible with, not if it is potentional compatible (so if content is packaged for the Sauerbraten directory, it isn't compatible with Red Eclipse unless the node provides a version packaged with that directory also).
I seriously miss a dropdown menu for this...

You tag your content as it is (is it a script? > select node type as script; is it a map? > select node type as map; etc).
This could make the game category more organised, as really everything shows up tagged with that category right now (scipts, models, maps even news which wears the tag of Red Eclipse appears in the very same list, which isn't very effective and pretty weird as well). So instead of that, if you search for a script of Sauerbraten; first click towards Games, then Sauerbraten, then Scripts. Looks like a lot of clicking, but saves a lot of scrolling.

Perhaps it takes less time to make a new, but at least now we know what we want ;).

Let's see if Razgriz is pleased with the current Games page...

then what you want is a huge filter wich allows you to see a list of just sauerbraten ffa maps eg.. dunno. could be usefull if someone is willing to browse the entire archive searching for something very specific, but then, if you're really searching for a specific thing there's the google custom search wich allows you to type what you want. It works way better.

It's nice to give users a fast access to the most interesting archives and to divide contents in major sections, but it's not that you can really aim to give them exactly what they need. would be madness then.
Especially on a site with so many different kind of contents.

way faster then browsing the archive.

Indeed it is, but I want to go as far as just content like scripts, maps, mods, etc.

Perhaps we could do this for guides as well, because a scripting tutorial has no relationship to a mapping guide.

Ther order is Engine>freshness -based. No priority at all as [imo] sui wanted to preserve the "we accept any kind of content" intent of this site.
