The icon of Quadropolis

As most people tend to see just a brown cube which is displayed 3 dimensional in a 2D picture, I was wondering if we really would like to keep that (in my opinion) ugly icon that should stand for Quadropolis.
The icon probably is about 8 years old (I haven't done research on that and Nieb isn't responding) and as we want to "overhaul" Quadropolis anyway, what about to start with something small like that?

I've moved certain comments from Final notes on upgrades to Quadropolis to this node as it's not the meaning to move away from the subject on that node.

Anyone actually ever wondered what the icon of Quadropolis is presenting?
It has always been a very pixelated brown box to me.

I think it's a normal cube from before trooper edition, with the 6 different textures on each side. It's really low resolition/quality to be sure, but that's what it appears to be. Frankly, with a favicon of 16x16 pixels it's quite hard to portray anything of reasonable detail.

Maybe we need a 2D icon instead to display it more clear?
Does it actually have to be 16x16? Icons which are displayed nowadays seem to use way more than that.

Edit: I've actually made an icon from the existing quad icon which appears in Sauerbraten (as AC doesn't know a quad, neither does RE and after all; it's Quad-ropolis). Maybe someone likes it...

I know it's not a 2D icon, but it should be recognizable as well. Maybe a red Q with black background would do...

Razgriz is always right, because i think to myself that i am the overlord of this place. I ask lots of questions whose answers i already know and i believe pretending to listen to the people makes me a better leader. Also i like turtles on trains.

The 32x32 and 16x16 version are being displayed incorrectly here (no idea why, probably due the transparency), but it should be correct when downloading so and viewing in programs like windows media viewer.

Download & view the ico file (link) and look at all of it's contained images. There is a 64x64 icon that shows enough detail.

Open the image with the Mediafire image viewer, then right-click (if on Firefox) and select "view image", then use the url as the img src.
That's how I do it.

The icon isn't something "small" to start with.
It's not a question of small icon, it's a question of what will represent our community.
It's a logo baby, an image that even left all alone will tell anyone who sees it "quadropolis". Or, at least, it should.

Left something like this all alone outside of a complete restyling project isn't very pratical. It's a matter of identity and no one ever gave some identity to this site a part from selecting the main colors.

Personally i'd suggest to follow the "Q" way and definitely separate quadropolis form sauerbraten. This is not sauerbraten's site, here we have more things, so why keeping the logo similar?

You can't even decide on changing the icon, whatever made us all think that we could update quadropolis as a whole? I forgot. It's like holding on to a tumor that's killing you just because you grew up with it.
