Detailed description

It all started like this...

I was sitting down at my computer and was just thinking. "I need to make a better map." Then it struck me... A picture and thought. It was this picture above. I said to myself. "Why not just give it a go." So for one week I messed around on sauerbraten and finally made half of the map! Then I accidently quit sauerbraten without saving... (Hey, Now dont call me stupid, Anyone could make that mistake.) I kicked up a small temper and... hurt myself while attacking my computer then sat down and started making it again. This time saving after every hour. At last the ultimate masterpiece was complete. A name... Whats orange like this map... Octron! Yes thats it. And so thats the story of cube master and making the map octron. As you probably know, It took a long time so please give it some good comments. Hope you like this map. Yes, I know its got the weirdest design probably ever used in sauerbraten but it has a very interesting effect. Have a battle in this. Pretty good, I say. Thanks.

Will you flesh-out the arches some more to fit them to the lower theme?
Since you designed for half a dozen or more players I'd say you can safely place another green armour and I didn't see a single health pack! *gasp* ... with the central feature : the quad - aard's gonna love it, the quad-not-for-me [or "!Q4me", for short] faction will never vote for it ... and then the flame war begins :-P

BTW : you can save about half the file size by going to lightsetting :
coarse / low error / and default calclight - brought it to 436K from 901K.HTH!

Thanks for the comment. I'ld try to fix it up a bit. And... heh heh. The health packs are behind the pillars on the bottom layer.

I like the circular, arena-like design on this; I can see it working perfectly for lan parties. ;-)

My only real gripe is the low ceiling on the circular path around the main area, which makes it harder to bunny hop (not a big deal). Also, it seems a little dark up top. Maybe add a few more lights?

Overall: very cool, open map. Good for a lot of people just wanting to frag the crap out of each other!

Ever since we did the LAN i was waiting for you to put this map up on Quadropolis. Now its up there its very fun to play (Dmsp is very fun) The Arcitecture is quicky but still i think this will end up on the next version of Sauerbraten.

Though this is a message for all..
We need more sp Maps! In the latest version of Cube 2 there is only 7 Sp maps included with around 300 multiplayers(!)Plz start to make some sp maps. Though not as interative gamewise you could make a competitive contest where map entites are tested by a panel of Judges and the best 3 are put onto the next Cube 2 update...

But im just rambling. Good map and continue maps like this!

I think that would be cool to make some SP I have a lot of idea but the only (and major) problem is that the monster really sucks they are not scary their style is poor(same for some weapons)and last but not least they are completly stupid.

Should interesting if someone could make a tutorial to learn more cool looking monster(in MD3 with bump & glowmaps it's possible ;)) and weapons.

For the AI of the monster I don't know how works certain algorythm but it can be found some goods that are Open source on the net(for example Quake 3).

Amazing map. Very eye-catching and has a good feel. Has a leveled design so this makes the game more tactical rather than just fast :)

hey great map it is fun in lan ond l enjoyed playing it.........
it is easy to play and great hiding places and snipering spots......
