This Monthly Poll has been brought up due complaints from certain people and the thought that there would be no release of Sauerbraten anymore.
Personally, I've noticed that there is way more activity around Quadropolis (especially in creating nodes) when a release is upcoming. After the certain game has been release, people tend to fade away again after a while but appear back on the scene when another release is announced. So take that as a motivation why the monthly poll of June contains this subject.

I still have to warn, there is no guaranty that Eihrul actually put this into action. It's still his project and his decision what, how and when to do with Cube Engine 2.

I don't really think that once a year specifically is necessary, but I voted yes because I would like to have a concrete date in the future.
I think it would really help mappers if there was a date they could plan to finish a map before. last time it was somewhat of a rush of maps because no one was really sure when the release would be.

The date needn't be set immediately, but a couple months before it would be nice to know.

All that being said above, new releases really depend on new content other than maps for the game, which take longer to develop/aren't submitted as often. (Of course, there could be a map-pack update between major releases. Players would only have to download a little bit of new content instead of installing the entire game again)

It would be nice to have something new and difference that won't affect the way we use the game unlike how most developers change there games so much leaving alot of unsatisfied users these days.

I'm sure there a lot of people that might have some good ideas to improve this game a little more.

One of my ideas are custom characters that are viewable online without the need of any kind of hack or mod just like in UT2004. Not only will character making activity rise but this may as well leave less work for the developer to do that roll or even get more people motivated for being creative with modelling characters of their own.

If it's possible drivable vehicles that can be edited and customized in game and usable online as well.

Maybe a new game mode can be added like little race for an example.

Those are just my suggestions. For all I know that might leave alot of work for the developer to make all that happen unless he gets help from other developers. In other words this is unlikely to happen and it's yet another bad idea [v.v]

Vehicles eh? I sense you're a Halo fan.
If you're talking about implementing them into the Cube 2 game, I had that thought but it would probably be useless. All the games I've played with drivable vehicles are either to gain firepower or a speed boost to cross distances in shorter time. However, because Cube 2 is such a fast-passed game, there's no need for (I think) speed boosts as you move quite quickly and all 6 weapons are quite powerful enough (if you're accurate) to kill within a few seconds. That said, I think mounted turrets would be a good addition probably not in Insta modes though...

I like your new game modes idea, in addition to the race, how about one where Teams take turns defending and attacking a fixed objective, like a mapmodel or something? Call it Siege or something like that.

It does seem like a majority of the conversations (so far I've seen anyways) on Quad go completely off topic, or slowly spinoff to something slightly relevant to the purpose of the post. :Þ

Who says it has to be half a year? Why not a patch every month or something and then a big release every so often. Does eihrul not take helpers? Not volunteering, but if he is super occupied and is unable to improve anything, a dev team would do wonders...

well, I think that's the problem. The more people are involved on a project, the more different views you've got along the project. That's why only a very few may actually help code-wise.
