Detailed description

Some of you may know me, others, probably not. Anyway, this is my first completed layout. It's not exactly mine, Snowy, p1nok, and I just newmaped and this is what happened. Then Polar and Doom came along and pitched in, so this map isn't mine, I'm just uploading for us. I have no idea if I packaged it right, although I sort of think I did. The map is called Compact because the gameplay is not supposed to be open, rather it's supposed to be somewhat close quarters. The map is meant for FFA and RegenCapture, but it works fine with instagib.

It's not finished, so if anyone has any tips or advice (or criticism) tell one of us, we'll try to do it.

The screenshot looks pretty interesting, but it it doesn't really attracts me checking out the map if you know what I mean.
The packaging is incorrect. The map should be in a "packages/base/" directory. The screenshot inside the zip-file isn't necessary, just put it as attachment to the node instead. Also make sure folders and files like "_MACOSX" and ".DS_STORE" aren't in the zip-file, as they are completely useless to any other OS. Last thing about the content itself, be sure NOT to use an .rtf-file as readme, just use a .txt-file instead.

Let's improve that first, then see what happens...

Wait a minute... is that the default grid texture I see outside the map in your screenshot?! That really needs to be skytextured, at least.

Also, use plaintext .txt files for your readme. it might help to name it readme, also.
the random screenshot included does nothing. if you want a preview image, you have to use a square image. refer to other maps in your base folder for tips about that.

give it a license too.

the crates dont really fit the theme. i'd figure out some other object to substitute for those.

the pistol ammo could be replaced by some other more useful weapon, such as a rifle?

dont forget to create a waypoint file :D that way people can use bots on your map.

your clipping is kind of random to me. i can walk some places on top, but in others i cant. that could do with a little work too :)

i think there should be more ambient lighting, because at the moment the map seems to have spots of bright blue and a random red spot..?

i believe the yellow armour and green armour should be switched because the yellow armour should be in a less access-able place than the more common green armour.

Ok, I tried to package it once more, still don't know if that's right; I'm really not getting it, lol. Anyway, added waypoints, changed pickups, replaced wooden crates with metal ones, and tweaked the lighting.

Nope, packaging is still wrong.
1. There are (hidden?)files/folders named "__MACOSX" and ".DS_Store" that should not be in the package.
2. The screenshot should have the same name as the map, so the game knows to load it when the map loads.

FYI, the clip, or lack thereof, makes this map unplayable:
There is at least one section where players can fall outside the map boundries.
All the edges along the walls allow players to jump on every rooftop in the entire map with relative ease--yet some buildings have large clip-boxes on them, and others don't. I recommend making the buildings you want to keep players off of taller, instead of trying to use a chunk of clip that won't conform to the building. Doing so would also help the overall theme of the map.

Also, some ambient lighting would go a long way.
