Try to mod a more complex game than Sauerbraten.

Pretty cool idea.

I remember the old machinegun in assasin and ctf edition had this before, but also wasn't automaticly showing up where anything like a flag or a base was.

1. More complexity = more problems :)
2. On the old machine gun it only an animated texture. It would be necessary to join this to the model somehow, some than the muzzleflash...

if you have experience in c++ you could mod sauer. You would have to take a snapshot of the minimap every frame and store that as a GL texture and then update the gun texture to show the change. this is one thing we're working on in Humanity Pending

This would probably require you to change the location of the top right minimap to be displayed on the texture. the minimap code is already there, just need to change it to be displayed on the gun.
