Technically:

I think what your saying is that you have (or want to have) quad sever maps which you go to a website and download maps so that you can play them on said server. If this is correct there is an easier way to do it.

The server send a message to each client of what mode its in,and a server can determine whether the client has the map that is being played. So the server can lie to a client that does not have the map and say its coop edit, and place the player in spectator, then send a message solely to that use that states something to the effect:

type /getmap then /savemap, then type #checkmap to start playing.

When #checkmap, the server would check to see if they now have the correct map if so continue if not repeat.

The server then would tell the client that it is now (what ever mode it is suppose to be), and then the client would reload the map.

Note: The following error will occur:

• Cfg file are not downloaded which means there may be some texturing "confusion"
• mapshot do not download so the maps would not have mapshots on load
• extra texture do dont load so the map may have missing textures
• some of the map options such as lightmap will not show up either (i do believe)

Once again: We are building maps. We play them on a server, which has in rotation only selfmade maps, and no maps already released in Sauerbraten. If you want to play your maps on such a server, you will only have to tell it to me. We can meet, I do /getmap, and i will pack the maps on a package which is downloadable on our homepage. You only have to give us the permission to do so with your maps. Afterwards we can have lots of fun with all the new maps never before seen on Sauerbraten.
