Detailed description

I never stopped to works on the Hostility Mappack, simply I stopped to relase things. Till now.
This was db9r and now is dcw3 a standard CTF and Capture map, for 3vs3 or 4vs4.

There are some very quick scores, so you need a continue defence and some fast-attack action to remove enemy defence.

In capture there are 6 symmetrical bases and optimized start location, I also think the gameplay is more than good.

Probably the map still suffer of cubism...

I have no lag here, and some on older computer are saying that the FPS are ok. But I have some ideas for a version without glass (and envs) if lots of people are expecting bad performance.

26-March-2011 Update:

Removed some glass on the sideway.
A bit of more geometry details.
Swichted GL and MG area.
A "better" base identifier.

Why would a map need details such as curves, or circles? If the mapper does not desire them, then he needn't include them.

I walked around a bit, the map looks nice to me, very clean looking and some good ideas. Yes, there's a lack of details probably, and some textures are not looking "just" (it's just a matter of tastes), but you can easily fix/add stuff later. I think you abused a bit with particles, particles usually tends to lower fps dramatically. As you said, at the moment the map suffer of "cubism", but I guess this is a work in progress, btw the playability seems good and fast.

Is an "almost" work in progress... I'm not sure if spending more time on this or continue to works on other (I hope better) maps. I have probably to remove all particles 4 0, they are useless, but characteristics, and, worst of all, I like them.

The true reason behind it is that I don't like detailing, I love to make layout, adding the ents, and change the layout again. But detailing is not my job, neither my best skill.

Well, the decision is up to you, of course, but in my opinion you should not give up and complete this map. About particles: I think you could replace some of those entities with a combination of textures and lights. Let me know if you need -somewhat- a hand.

I like the theme of this map. The coloration is quite nice.
It feels like the upper areas are incomplete though, and there is a bit of a particle overdose. Reminds me of Christmas. ;)

trak5 texture are fantastic for madding propose.

About the upperside - i'm agree - it feels empty. The biggest problem behind adding things, is that if I add some cube the up will became the perfect caper-spot in ctf. "You" are at almost the same distance from flag, YA or the teleport, and you are upper which is always an advantage. I probably have also to move the MG; switching it whit grenades...???

If one likes layout one should partner with some one that likes detailing, then one and an other could make a good map :)

Liking it definitively. Cubic maps were missing in Sauerbraten. Voted the rate which has 2 numbers in it. :P

From this update the map is SVN only, it have some minor gameplay and aesthetic fixes.

The map give is best in capture or regen capture modes...
