Many macs can handle games quite well, more so than most other laptops of equal value.
The OS is unfamiliar territory for most people though, but mac is fast growing, and developers are beginning to see a good market in making games for it.

The mac OS is less customizable, but... Since everything built for mac is customized perfectly to fit the requirements of the computer, it handles games well. Like windecker said, the gaming community for it is growing rapidly and saying "oh macs suck" isn't a valuable comment, its arguable. Saying that shows that you have never looked into the OS and you are like every other casual PC user. "macs suck pc rocks just because". I'm not saying every PC user is like this, that's quite incorrect. Allot of them value both OS's equally, or at-least don't completely discriminate mac for just being mac.

I can see the pros/cons for both os's, and arguably they are both good, for different things.

in my opinion, macs capture simplicity, perfection and elegance. The way everything looks and works is just amazing.

I would categorize PC as popular, customizable and powerful. There are many programs for it and it is easier to build things on, I.e. programs and the computer itself.

The only difference between a mac and any other personal computer is the operating system, but so many people seem to miss this. Lots assume that everything else is different as well; I've no clue why or what they think would be different.
( ignoring the fact that there is now a new display port )

In terms of OS:
Both have their pros and cons, as you said. Mac has it's elegance, beautiful looks, and function.
PC ( Personal Computer ) is commonly associated with Windows, thanks to those Mac VS PC Tv commercials, and is most common simply because people have been using Windows for so long. *rolls eyes*

The hardware in a Mac is made by many well known companies. The Intel processors, or the Nvidia video cards, a Seagate or Western digital spinning hard-drive.
The ram, ethernet controller, sata controller, USB controller, etc, are usually from some well known names.

The hardware is all good, and most macs are already built quite well enough for gaming. Many video cards in even the most expensive of laptops are Intel integrated graphics, so many Macs have a major step up in that aspect equipped with a 9600M or similar card.

They are both personal computers, they merely differ in operating system. If one doesn't like it, dual boot! :D

In fact, when I run PC software on it (with Windows under bootcamp) it performs better than the equivalent PC running Windows. I wish I could find my benchmarks now. The games that I play under OSX have rarely crashed or had as many problems as the ones I play under Windows. It's remarks like yours, Chasester, which keep the myth alive that Macs can't handle 3d gaming. It's simply incorrect in this day and age.

A more correct statement would be to say 3d games were not written to handle Macs.

Do you even use OSX? If not, you should refrain from making judgement calls on things you obviously know little about.

Why should games get written for mac when there's still windows? :P

A common issue, but not always present. That used to happen to my on my XP install, but not on my win7 install.
