Cube 2 Sauerbraten "Justice Edition" Out Now

The Cube 2 Sauerbraten team have just released their latest version, dubbed "Justice Edition". eihrul has this to say on the Cube Forums:

30 new maps, Inky and Captain Cannon player models, hold and efficiency game modes, vslots for editing texture properties in-game, alpha material for making transparent geometry, multi-threaded calclight, radar mini-map, and more stuff...

Boxes, platforms, and doors aren't available in multiplayer, are they?

They are all available in multi-player. You just can't trigger them to move. ^_^

i have experienced a terrible FPS, like many Mac users have on any big maps, i.e Abbey, Xenon... Eirhul, explain?

I have the same problem here. I was noticing an average of a 4x reduction in framerate.

At first I thought it was the minimap (and it still could be, I haven't looked at the source code yet), but even in modes where the minimap is off (coopedit), it still runs pathetically slowly.

My brief testing:
Map: Forge / coopedit
Placement: Stood on ledge, just behind the flag areas, looking down the hallway below
FPS: 75 (Trooper) / 7 (Justice)

I kept the exact same settings both times, as best I could. I used none of the new features (motion blur, etc) and kept all other GFX settings the same.

System Specs:
MacBook Pro (Early 2008), 2.4 GHz Core 2, 2GB 667 DDR2, GeForce 8600M GT 256 MB, 1440x900
EDIT: Forgot to add: OS X 10.5.8
High quality shaders and 2x FSAA on both versions.

I have actually the same features on PC and I have installed Hackint0sh (yes, I know that it's illegal), but my framerate still be over 70 fps for all maps.

Out of curiosity, what version of OS X are you running? (And are you using a Dell Mini, or some other hackintosh?)

I haven't tried it out on any other OSes. I'll try my Linux box eventually and see if I get any major slowdown.

But still some "bad" (not really bad , but also not really good) maps in this release :)

But they are playable , so "WoW!" ^^
