Detailed description

Here is another helping of skyboxes for your mapping pleasure. This pack includes:

coulee
flame
forestrytwo
h2s
scorched

I created this second set of 5 environments with Bryce 6.0 and hope they will be of use to anyone who might enjoy them. They are licensed under CC-BY-SA 3.0

Just unpack this zip file into your user-content directory for sauerbraten. The correct directory structure is .../sauerbraten/packages/mayhem/coulee_ft.png for example. DO NOT overwrite the mayhem directory in your main application bundle.

ok i finally got a look at them, sorry for the waiting.

Coulee is a good idea as a skybox. but the land seems washed out at the bottom and the clouds do not make a pleasant blend with the sky.

Flame is a really nice skybox. i have nothing to suggest for a fix here :)

Forestry 2 needs more work. The trees are all about the same making them seem pretty fake in the washed-out rockbed that is below them. yes, the ground doesn't look like fertile soil for a forest at all. You might also want to take another pass with the skies, because the clouds are too striking and don't blend with the skybox that well. The same thing goes for your previous skybox, Grouse.

H2S is also a really well done skybox.

Scorched is the last one and also an awesome skybox. My only wish with it is that you use a goddamned png because the color artifacts of the jpg are taking my eyes out! >.<

Amazing. Would you be able to do another of the forest box, but with the camera at a much lower altitude?

that vulcanic skybox looks nice, but the other skyboxes arent that detailed :S.

I am rather fond of the lava skybox too. Any suggestions for what kind of detail you might like to see in the others?

Just a quick question, is the license for these CC-BY-SA version 3.0? (And if not, can they be used also under this new version?).

2.0 and 2.5 is a bit iffy on some points, so hence why I'm asking, we're likely including them in the next Red Eclipse release and I'm going around being paternicky about licenses ;)

Yes, I'm pretty sure these are CC-BY-SA version 3.0 and if not, they are now! :)

I would be honored to have them in the RE release.

Edit: It would seem mediafire didn't keep that file hosted and I can't find it on my systems either. I will try to find my source files and re-post it when I can.

Edit2: Done. I upgraded the licenses and used the higher quality PNG format which unfortunately brings the zip file over 40 Mb. I've also included the much smaller JPG files on this node.

Higher quality png? What's the size, didn't you compress it? (i cannot check on this lousy connection a file so large)
Anything over 24bit pixel precision is wasted space, and then there's opti-png :P

I was a bit slow on the ball here and an infrequent quad user so unfortunately I didn't check up on this until after the new 1.4 release, so the license note in there is still the old one, but it will be updated for any future patch and for 1.5.
