These 5 skyboxes were made with Bryce 6.
Type /loadsky mayhem/afterrain into the console to view the afterrain skybox for example.
These are very simple, basic skyboxes which I used to practice texturing terrain. Feedback is welcome.
all of them are excellent, and high resolution! fantastic, i can't say anything more! and if these are examples will the good ones be higher resolution? :P
5/5
i can't give anything higher than that. its good to see you back in skybox making :D
Nice of you to say that! :)
These have all started as 3MB/image PICT files which show all the little details nicely with AA and 48-bit dithering. Saved as .PNG, they are 2MB/image but still show the details. I've had to save as .JPG to bring the file-size down to reasonable levels but I lose all the little details and there is ugly loss everywhere. I would be happy to provide a higher quality version of any of my skyboxes if requested. I'm not quite sure what the best trade-off is between quality/compression so if you or anyone has any suggestions regarding that I'd like to hear them.
if skyboxes make no difference when loading on a map as pngs or jpegs, then i'd happily use a png for detailed skybox. althout that would overload my new map i'm developing and 3MB is the smallest size i can dump it... if it raises when the png skybox is present then i'll have to do some severe size cutdowns... but it is true, you can't decide between quality and size D:
why dont you put the high quality download in the url space? im new here so i dunno if thatll work but great skybox's i love em
The ability to attach additional files is there for just such cases :-)
