It does seem that everyone likes this map simply because it is from Doom. I have to say that of all the E1M1 clones I have seen, this one has got to be the biggest in the universe. Where is your scale? I feel as if people are seeing this map through rose-tinted spectacles, and not seeing what it actually is. To be honest, the texturing wasn't all that, the map geometry was quite mediocre, and the exit switch was way too high. I felt like a midget in a giant's world. Next time you choose to make a Doom map, firstly make it SP friendly too (that was the main concept of Doom), and secondly for the love of God make it smaller.

Yep its jumbosized. As for texturing and geometry, I intentionally made it as close to the ("ugly" if you prefer) original as possible.

Im not really interested in making SP levels at the moment, but i would love to see it done.

If the original is ugly, it's not worth doing a tribute map to.

I agree, thus far the comments have been made solely on the fact that people are going "OMG I LUV DOOM" and once you take out the fact that this is a doom-based map it's not strong enough on its own. The architecture is basic (huge gridsizes used everywhere) the details are few and far-between, and the texturing is basic too (even if doom is ugly, why would you want your map to be?)

The gameplay isn't good either, as far as I'd seen from playing on it. There are a bunch of huge hallways pretty much and they don't flow well together. There's no unifying theme, and the quad's awkwardly placed..

I don't know, the fact that you made the screenshot look pixelly and poor quality on purpose kinda matches the map.

1/5 as a map, I don't even care if it's a tribute map because you can still do something justice by making it good on its own. If you look at, say, Novus Terra, this is a good tribute map of Tartech (for Novus Terra go to http://www.quadropolis.us/node/1942, and Tartech is a default Sauer map). Even though it's a tribute map, just playing on it one wouldn't care; it's fun and enjoyable by its own qualities.
