Nope sorry, it doesn't work like that, do it properly or do not do it at all. There are plenty of open source and freeware programs for converting images, you have just been too lazy to do so. If you do not fix the issues with this node within three days it will be deleted, whether the content is good or not - because you are not putting any effort into presentation. This is your second of three warnings on the subject of node quality (first complaint was lodged August 28th 2008).

Just saying that whatever prog was used it seems to have been good enough to put in some funky-font-incarnation of the map-name ... so it can't have been all that crappy. Definetely looks like not a lot of effort went into the map presentation ... it's all grey and washed out .. can't make out anything really.

Gimp is an excellent open-source image-manipulation prog which is in wide-spread use and has tons of How-Tos and Documentation to get even graphics-challenged people (like myself) empowered to "get the job done".

I mean you've got to lighten the picture at least somewhat.
If you're really, really lazy - try Picasa .. it's a Google app for working with images .. even my mom can use that.

I have a mac, and for some reason Gimp does not work. I have the original screenie program that comes with the mac!
I will try my work at it once again, I will try and brighten up the picture contrast and gamma... Maybe even working the Hue on this one will improve it? Don't delete it yet, but I can not assure that a 100% perfect pic will come out of my work.
