i thought u were gonna stick with the frost texture bit i was wrong any way on to my review. i like how you made the bases loaded with weps so noone will kill any 1 for 1 gun. and like how you made the the things that look like moons have light so u know what base to take over or something like that and i thought the quad was gonna be it the ceter insteed it was on the top on the spike.on the 2nd time through the bases i found how to get to other places. this should be on the next sar 5/5

At least you kept themed... somewhat.

Some of the lighting is too saturated and could look better, and some lighting outside wouldn't hurt.

The stuff isn't exactly just 'walls' and stuff, but there is hardly any decent detail work. Mix up the textures some more.

The ice in the middle could use some more naturalization. ...Less flat and sharply cut.

Ok I worked from 5:40 to 7:30 this morning working on the map. All the bases now have their own color. I also mixed colors in the middle and on the gates of the walls. I added more lights to the outside. I fixed jumppads. I fixed the landscape. I added eye candy. I fixed almost every single light on the map. The new update will be posted sometime after noon. I did made these updates because I do take suggestions and I don't like to have helpful suggestion's put to waste. After all whats the point of a review if you don't even take it into account?
Once again the new Subzero will be uploaded sometime after noon.

Well, first things first: you named your ZIP archive "packages.zip"... Name it something more like "subzero.zip". (Fortunately, Quadropolis renames files instead of overwriting them.)
In the archive, you named your files with a capital S... Another no-no. Use lowercase in filenames.

On to the map itself.
My first impression was very bland texturing. It's all flat, and the only real variation in the bases is the alternating colors. No detail work at all.
The same holds true outside. It's all the same ice/snow texture (even though you did rough it up a bit--points for that).
I don't like the big pool of water--if it's supposed to be sub-zero, why is there liquid water? What's wrong with a pit open to the edge of the map?
Also on the thing in the middle, you might want to take the big X structures and move them in by their width. Remove the central pillar if you want/need to, few players will see it (unless they're going over the map), and it wouldn't reasonably contribute any additional support anyway.

Back to the bases.
The geometry for the bases is rather "thick"... You can look at the middle structure (especially the base) for what I mean by this. (Speaking of which, that should probably be a Quad, not a yellow armor.) Work on detail, not just building things up.

You've also used an odd mapsize--you could easily fit this map in one mapsize down. (Just select everything, "/entselect insel", copy, newmap 11, paste, "/calclight 3".)

One last thing: Freak, you seem to have a penchant for huge maps... Just for kicks, I decided to scale this map down by half. (Copy everything, go down one gridpower, paste.)
Aside from the bases becoming pretty cramped and textures not coming out right, it works rather well. Consider doing this and re-releasing it.

I liked the map sorta, I don't know that all the 5 star reviews are called for though. Nobody actually votes lower than 5 stars lol, if they like it it's 5, if they don't it's 1. W/e not important

I feel as though there's alot of trouble to go through just to get to the top of the tower, and this is something I've criticised my friend for. Your towers are much more roomy and easy to move in, but I know playing this map would piss me off because I'd put alot of effort into getting to the top of the tower and then I'd just get shot because there would be a camper up there waiting..

I liked those spheres on top though, and the saturation of the light in them was perfect. I think the yellow one was a little bland in saturation though.

This would be cooler if there was like a bridge or platform that allowed access to all the towers, perhaps running along those spiky fences.

Off the review thing, Freak-w00t I heard you were able to do really complex objects like a cone-shaped roof. Could you help me out on mine sometime if we met up on sauer?

3/5 just to put the rating down but not be an asshole, you need to work on textures and various things people have mentioned already. Good map though, perhaps a LITTLE basic though?

Im going to start by telling you this is going to be a very long reveiw. I think this map has very nice geometry and the building are well planned out, but i agree that it is a little to big and i found a lot of big problems that could be fixed.

I like the geometry and the textures are ok but i found a few problems. I dont rly like that you used the ice texture. I think you should have probably used blikjebier's clear_snow texture or another snow texture such as that one. Also i believe that the middle platform is very strange looking. You used a snow texture on the sides and bottom of it when i think that the middle platform should be more of a steel texture. It looks as if all the support beams under the plaform are holding up a big chunk of ice which makes no sense to me. I also noticed how big some of the beams are on the platform. You should probably scale those dont a lot more. One thing i think you could fix is the textures in the bottom entry of the bases. i noticed u made triangles to make the tile texture go from one side to the other in a 45 degree agnle. I think this looks unrealistic considering snow will be blown into the building a little bit. Instead of having the texture go straight across you should have the snow blown over the tile texture. Here ive even taken 15 seconds of my time to show you an end result. http://img185.imageshack.us/my.php?image=screenshot2176708vr9.png Of course you could make it better, but i though i couldnt really explain that well, so i thought i would show you.

Anyway, back to the reveiw. I think the terrain could be a little better. Somehow it feels unatural. Maybe its a little to hilly or bumpy. I noticed a few things inside the building. I think the ladders in the buildings look strange. I find it weird climbing a steel wall. I think it would look a lot better if you changed the texture and/or geometry. I also think that you need some envmaps for your windows or glass floors. It looks strange to see the reflection of the shining moon from inside the building. You also need to move your capture flag ent down to the floor. I went into capture mode and all four flags were magically hovering over the floor. And one very small thing i noticed. On the second floor of all the buildings, one of the lights that are pushed into the wall has a wrong texture on the bottom face. Instead of it being the brown metal texture, it is one of the philipk's white tile texture. the white texture just caught my eye when i was moving past it.

Now for some things that i believe will hurt the gameplay. Inside the buildings i think you should clip the light on the corners. You can easily get stuck on them. You should also clip the pushed in lights. People can rifle jump into them. Either on purpose or accident get stuck in them. Not much of a problem but it could help. I noticed a window that you can get stuck in. Its all the windows at the bottom of the second story ladders. I got stuck inside one when i jumped into it. You maybe want to clip that or change the geometry of it.

When i was play around by the ladder i found out u could jump onto the roof and jump off the map. That is how i found biggles name written on the side, i actually landed on it and i was able to sit there and stay alive. People could easily do this during a game and never be seen. Also when u do this on the building where it is on the edge of the map, you can jump through the walls and land on the first story. I even landed on a a piece of geometry that allowed me to sit inside the wall and shoot out of it. This is one thing that i believe you should fix. Easily achieved by clipping the outside of the map.

One last thing i didnt like about the map was the middle platform. I see why u need it but why is it only holding up a little peice of solid geometry. If there are big support beams then shouldnt they be holding up something big or something more important. Also i found a way to land on your giant support beams. You could camp there as well and never be seen the entire match. You can simply clip those as well.

I hope this helps you a lot because i spent a lot of time to do this for both of you. Other than the things i stated above, i really do like the map and for now my rating stands at a 3/5. Fix it up and this could easily change. Im looking forward to seeing this completed.
