Look, I didn't mean to sound like I was putting you down for your wishes to make your template available for the benefit of others, as that is a very commendable thing to do.
What I was reacting to the most was what you yourself summed up in these two sentences: "I said that I didn't want other people to claim ownership. Yes, that wasn't probably very wise to say that because it implies that I own all these models."
My comments about your file not containing gameplay/textures/etc was questioning what exactly it is that you are licensing. And whatever it is, whether you would be able to under the GPL considering the following (from the Sauerbraten README):
"If you want to produce new content with the sauerbraten engine, you have to be aware that the source code may be Open Source, but the game and the media it consist of have their individual licenses and copyrights."
As you are using the inbuilt textures in your template that to me would indicate you would be contravening exisiting private licenses and copyrights by declaring your own - and I am certain that is not what your intentions would have been.
As SheeEttin suggested, you have posted it up here so just make it public domain - you want it to be a free resource for the community so why complicate it with a dubious license declaration?
Just out of interest, compare the following zlib/libpng licensing which Sauerbraten uses with that of the GPL - comparing these I can understand why you don't want to go around reading licenses :)
